It's time to get back on the race track. With winter out of my way, I'm more excited about a new racing season than ever. 2009 is bound to be a great year at Tyler Long Racing.
There have been a few changes that I'm sure will have a huge impact on my success this year. The first change is to my ride. I've gone from a Chevrolet Monte Carlo to a Dodge Charger. With the success I had last year on the race track came an unexpected level of interest in my success by others in the racing world.
I will be driving the No 7 Dodge Charger (please click on the Year 2009 page for more details and also see my Racing Schedule).
My Dodge Charger - .I was offered a race car with a special history behind it. This race car was originally owned by Jim Dean. He had the car built. Later he would have a young racer by the name of Denny Hamlin sit behind the wheel. The car was then sold to two-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Champion, Philip Morris from Ruckersville, VA. This car has seen its share of victories, and I know how fortunate I am to call this my own race car for the 2009 season.
The second change at Tyler Long Racing this year is my new crew chief. I am honored to have Doc Trenary from Bunker Hill, WV as my crew chief for the 2009 season. Doc has been my mentor and coach in the past. With his experience on and off the race track, his competitive spirit, and belief in me he will be an extremely valuable part of the winning equation. He is a force to reckon with at all times. His will to win and his attention to detail are vital components to a winning race team. I am very thankful for the support and dedication given by Doc and his family to my racing career.
With Doc Trenary as my crew chief we're sure to shake things up wherever we go and contend for wins every time we're on the race track. My car is super fast and this Dodge Charger makes race day a blast!
My family is the biggest support system that anyone could ask for. Their never-ending love and belief in my ability to drive a race car gives me strength and determination.
I am grateful for the sponsors past and present for their tremendous financial support. Without them none of this would be possible. They believe in me and know I will get the job done. They are helping me realize my dream of becoming a winning race car driver. Racing is my passion, and I am proud to represent so many fine people.
So ... the answer is yes! I will be very busy this season. The commitment I have made is an opportunity for me to race in a league with more exposure for my racing career. The experience I'll gain is a priceless addition to my racing ability. The car that my family owns is also a great piece to drive and allows me to maintain my focus on my racing goals. The more time I'm in the driver's seat, the happier I am. Just ask my family.
The opportunity that I have in front of me is a challenge that I am willing to tackle. The payoff will be huge. I remain focused on winning as many races as I can this year.
I am ready to race! See you at the races!
