                    Note * Bernard Brown achieved the third level of the Paul Harris Fellows with $3000 donated to the Foundation.  Tom Constable achieved the second level in 2008 and Tom Linski, Jr. achieved it in 2014. All three of these Rotarians wear a Paul Harris pin with sapphires embedded in it as recognition of this achievement. The Rotary Foundation gives millions of dollars to charity and also makes funds available to the local communities through grants.

What is a Paul Harris Fellowship?

Paul Harris of Chicago was the founder and organizer in 1905 of the first Rotary Club. By 1910 there were 16 Rotary Clubs called the National Association of Rotary Clubs.  In 1912 the name of the Association was changed to the International Association of Rotary Clubs to reflect the addition of clubs in Canada, England, Ireland and Scotland. Paul Harris  was elected as the first president of the worldwide organization.  Read more about him and the Foundation on the Rotary International site.

Honoring him, the recognition of $1000 gifts made by either individuals or clubs to the Rotary Foundation was first proposed in 1957.  These funds are used only for advancing Rotary’s goals of peace,  disease eradication and charities.
